Happy 2018! I cannot believe that we are already seven days into a new year! I have such a great feeling about 2018, I know that it is going to be such a good year and I’m so excited for it.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid [scared] , but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
-2 Timothy 1:7
So at the beginning of every year I pick a word of the year. The word always turns out to be more significant that I imagined. My word for this year is brave. Brave means to show courage and courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. For the longest time ever I thought that 2 Timothy 1:7 was talking about being scared and fear but it actually talks about bravery because the opposite of being timid is being brave. And so this verse reflects into my word of the year perfectly. These are my goals for 2018:
Spend more time with the Lord
My mantra for 2018 is lens through my life and you can read all about that in this blog post but it is essentially an extended metaphor. I as the camera should reflect the Lord who is the lens, the most important part of the camera in every image I produce. In order to reflect the Lord I have to spend more time with Him.
So since Christmas I’ve really gotten into working out and I have enjoyed it so much. You honestly just feel better as a whole when you’re putting good food into your body and taking care of it, but keeping healthy is not just physical health. It’s mental, emotional and spiritual health as well and making sure all those areas are healthy as well.
Get 7 distinctions
This is probably the biggest goal that I have. I am in my final year of high school and I know that this goal is definitely not going to be easy, but goals are supposed to challenge you and push you and they can’t do that if their not challenging in some way.
Get into university
This is pretty much self explanatory…
Last year I definitely didn’t blog enough and so this year I want to put more effort into this blog and write + post more here. This blog is not just for me, it’s for you as well and if there’s more things that you would like to read about let me know in the comments.
With every thing else going on this is my reminder to have fun. To enjoy myself, be present, step out of my comfort zone, be spontaneous and just have a ball this year.
