Doubt is defined as a feeling of uncertainty, to be afraid. Doubt is a funny thing, it makes you question yourself, and your abilities. I think everyone has doubts and uncertainties but the moment that you let them control your decisions. The moment that you make a decision based off of your doubt there’s an issue.
“Don’t dig up in doubt what you have planted in faith.”
“Bravery is not the absence of fear. Bravery is feeling the fear, the doubt, the insecurity, and deciding that something else is more important.”
It is so easy to not do something based off fear and uncertainty. A big one for me is the fear of what people will think or how they will react. However people don’t look at you as much as you think they do. As humans we notice the every single thing we do wrong, ourselves and we think that every single person sees them but that’s not true. The world does not revolve around us, and what is the importance of human opinion in comparison to what the Lord has to say about us.
The Lord tells us to be brave and not timid, to have faith and not doubt.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
-2 Timothy 1:7
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Yours could be the fear of failure, or the fear of making a fool of yourself…whatever it is. The only way to overcome it is to press on, to carry on despite of it, and to carry on with the Lord by your side. When you catch yourself not wanting to do something ask yourself why and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength to do it. Doubt is what stops us a lot of the time from leaving our comfort zone. Your comfort zone is meant to be stepped out of but only you can. No one can truly force you, you have to make that choice. It might feel scary or as if you’re faking it but that’s okay. Stand tall and keep your head up. Keep walking and be brave.
Doubt has killed more dreams than failure ever will, don’t let it kill yours. So this week choose to keep going, choose bravery, choose to leave your comfort zone in spite of failure or fear.
