I hope that you have had an absolutely amazing 2018! I just finished high school and went on a trip to Cape Town with a group of four of my close friends in celebration of this! It was an absolute blast and I wanted this memory to be my last post of 2018. We were there for eight days (Saturday to the next Saturday).
Day 1 (Saturday)
We flew down to Cape Town and arrived around 5 pm🛬. The rest of the night was spent sorting out food for the house and other things.
We spent the day at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and it was such a beautiful place. It reminded me of Jurassic World, all it needed were some dinosaurs! 🦕 I had my first and best toasted bacon sandwich at a little cafe here. On our way back we stopped by Hout Bay beach and walked along the pier. Then we went out that evening.
We spent the day at the World of Birds: Monkey and Bird Wildlife Sanctuary. 🐒🦉I’m not the biggest fan of birds but it was cool to see all the different types of birds and wildlife. It was also super cool getting to interact with the monkeys (which are softer and lighter than you’d think). On our way home we got some of the best fried calamari, then we went home and had a chilled night in playing games and eating tons of snacks.
This was a very relaxed day. We slept in and had brunch at the house. Then we went to Camps Bay beach and spent some time there before having supper at Ocean Blue, right by the beach. 🏖
This was one of my favourite days! We went to the Two Oceans Aquarium and then had a late lunch by the V&A Waterfront. Then we went to Charly’s Bakery. I’ve wanted to go there ever since I watched their tv show. After that we went to the Bo-Kaap (the coloured houses) and took some photos. Then we went home and had a movie night. 🎥
We slept in that morning then we all dressed up. We went back to the Bo-Kaap and heard all about its history in the locally run Cape Malay mueseum. That afternoon/ evening we explored the V&A Waterfront: we walked around, had lunch, walked along the pier, got on the Ferris wheel. 🎡 Afterwards we went out.
This was our last full day and probably the most active day. We hiked up Lion’s Head (the pointy mountain next to Table Mountain). ⛰ I honestly don’t know how I made it to the top and I was super stiff for three/ four days afterwards. I have genuinely never been that stiff before. On our way home we stopped by the cutest Chinese shop with really good food. We then went home, got ready and went to Clifton beach 3. We stayed at the beach until around 8pm then we ate supper at Hard Rock Cafe.
Our flight was in the afternoon so we spent that morning tidying up, packing and getting ready to leave. Then we flew back home. 🛫
Isn’t it crazy that 2018 is over 🙈. Honestly this year flew by so quickly! 2018 is definitely a year I won’t forget. I hope that you all had an amazing 2018 and I’ll see you, friends in the new year!
