Lately I haven’t felt like spending time with the Lord. This is unusual for me as I’m usually very on fire for God, and I’ve had to learning that sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to. I am definitely still learning this.

In life we have seasons: summer, autumn, winter and spring. The moon goes from a full moon to a new moon and all the phases in between. The ocean has high tides and low tides. Everything has seasons and phases. The same goes with life and our spiritual lives.

You cannot always be in the same season and as much as this is for you this is probably an even bigger reminder for me. I read this quote by Steven Furtick that says, “Passion is a choice, not a feeling.”  You cannot always be on a high in your spiritual life, you cannot always be 100% with the Lord but you can always make a choice.

You can choose to pursue Him, to have your devotion, you can choose passion even when you don’t feel like it. Because sometimes you have to do things you don’t ‘feel’ like doing. You cannot be lead 100% by feelings because sometimes what you ‘feel’ like doing is not what you should do.

Another poem I read that I thought is so relevant is:

“Life is unpredictable,

It changes with the seasons,

Even your coldest winter,

Happens for the best of reasons,

And though it feels eternal,

Like all you’ll ever do is freeze,

I promise spring is coming,

And with it, brand new leaves.” – e.h.

The beauty about seasons and phases is that they don’t last forever. Spring will always come after Winter and the beauty of Spring is worth the pain and cold of winter. Just as you cannot have Spring without Winter, you cannot have beautiful flowers without thunderstorms and you cannot have peaceful oceans without raging waves.

So, yes even though I’m not going through a summer in my spiritual life it’s okay. All seasons pass and this one will too. And I’m going to choose passion and choose God even though it’s hard at times because Spring is coming, and with it brand new leaves.

Before we get into this, I did a corresponding Youtube video to this blog post on my channel so you should check that out!

Dear girl who’s still single…I know your pain, I’m right there with you. I know how it feels like to watch all your friends be in relationships and still be single. To be the one with no one or nothing to talk about in certain conversations. But keep on going.

This sounds really cliche but the right guy is out there. It’s not worth it just giving your heart out for the sake of being in a relationship. Just be patient. It’s already hard and it won’t get hectically easier but keep at it.

Trust the God who made the universe, who holds the stars in His hands with your heart. Jesus sees your heart and He sees your desires. All He asks is for you to take them to Him, to trust Him because He is absolutely in love with you and only wants the best for you.

As much as this is an open letter to every girl who’s still single, it is also a reminder to myself because I’m also still single. A reminder to trust Jesus and embrace the single season that I am in right now. A reminder to trust that He has my best interests at heart and to give Him my heart.

One last thing be present. Embrace every moment that comes and enjoy this single season. Do things that are out of your comfort zone, spend more time with Jesus, family and friends. Live your life girl! Don’t wait for your prince charming when the King of the universe is calling your name!

girl praying

So as some of you might have noticed I haven’t posted on here for quite a while. I had taken a little bit of a break from blogging. Honestly blogging had become more of a chore, something to tick off my to do list and I didn’t know why I was blogging.

The break was good,  it gave me time to rest and God confirmed the fact that I shouldn’t delete this blog. I think I was just a little ungrateful. Ungrateful for what I had here on this blog and it took a break and a couple of people for me to realize that. But I had also lost the why I blog, and that’s a very important question.

So what’s the future of this blog? I am honestly so grateful for this blog and I want to continue blogging, but I don’t know what the future holds. We are just going to take each week as it comes and see what happens. The purpose of this blog is to inspire and share what God is sharing with me by being authentic and bold.

I also just started a YouTube channel so you’re going to be seeing a lot more of that here on the blog. You can click here to check it out!

I’ve got exciting things planned and I would love for you to join me on the journey. I’d love to connect with you a lot more so you can find me on Instagram, Twitter or the blog Contact Me page. I’d also really appreciate it if you could check my YouTube channel out.

Remember this: You can start over, each morning.

may goals

April was a really chilled month for me, majority of it was spent on holiday. Now I’m fully rested and ready to give May my all. I tend to set a lot of goals and then at the end of the month I haven’t really achieved anything. My goals for May are pretty simple and I only have 6, so here they are:

Continue spending more time with God

I started intentionally spending more time with God last month and I’ve started to see a slight difference in my days. This is especially evident when I don’t spend time with Him and my days turn out not too great. Another way I want to spend more time with God is to include Him throughout my day and to start a gratitude journal, thanking Him for all He’s doing in my life.

Be a friend

I started reading Jesus Is ______ by Judah Smith and the first chapter was about how Jesus is your friend but also how we should be a friend to others. This month I really want to invest in my current friends but also be a friend to the friendless. To listen more than I judge and love more than ever.

Stay on top of my work

My exams are coming up in six weeks and this term I really need to stay on top of my work otherwise I’ll fall behind. So my aim is to study hard and stay organized, but also rest when need be. Thus staying on top of my work.

Eat healthy

I noticed that there a couple foods that don’t make me feel too great after eating them and I really want to fix this. So I want to start eat healthier food and food that makes me ‘feel good’ and gives me long lasting energy.

Work hard

I want to work hard in everything I do. To give my absolute 120% and nothing less.

Connect with at least one blogger and one reader

If you would like to collab with me or even just share something great that happened today with me you are always welcome. You can contact me here or on any of my social media. I would love to get to know you!

What are your goals for May?

Everyone has days where they feel down or a little under the weather, I know I certainly have these. I find that the best thing to do is to just take it slow and unwind. So here are ten pick me ups:

  • Read a book you’ve been wanting to read
  • Put on a face mask
  • Turn up the music and have a dance party
  • Go out for coffee with a friend
  • Cry it all out…or watch a sad movie and cry it all out
  • Watch your favourite movie
  • Take a nap
  • Get creative and make some art or start a new DIY project
  • Have a worship session
  • Write in your journal

Don’t forget to take care of yourself. You are important and it’s OK to say no to going out and spend some time with yourself because you matter.

“Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” -Eleanor Browan

So for the rest of the week I challenge you to take care of yourself and rest when need be. To allow yourself to have a bad day or be a mess. And then I challenge you to do a pick me up, it doesn’t have to be something from this list but do it and allow yourself to feel great about it because you are worth it!

10 pick me ups.png

Over the past couple of months I have come to realize that one of the best things you can do for yourself is to step out of your comfort zone. However it is so easy to be the one to stop yourself. Something as simple as saying “I’m not good at this so I won’t try it”. We often subconsciously put restraints on ourselves and underestimate ourselves.

You see by stepping out of your comfort zone you embrace the unknown and dive into a whole new world you probably didn’t know exist. You are given the opportunity to trust Christ like you have never before. Like Abraham Maslow said, “In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety.”
And all it takes is a yes. Saying yes to both the big things and the simple ordinary things that you would normally say no to.

2 Timothy 1:7 says For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but one of power, of love and of self discipline.

Timidity is the lack of courage and confidence. If God did not give you a spirit of timidity then He is calling you to be brave and courageous. To step out of your comfort zone even though all you want to do is stay in it.

“But God doesn’t call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn’t come true.” -Francis Chan

So I have a challenge for you. This week do one thing out of your comfort zone, whether that be big or small. Then share it with someone, or even in the comments below.

Even though we’re almost halfway through April I thought I’d still put up my April goals. Lately I’ve been noticing that my monthly goals are more wishes than actual goals. It’s become a habit ans I’m not putting in enough effort to achieve them. So this month there’s a smaller list of goals but ones I intend on achieving.

Spend more time with God

Getting closer to God is always on the top of my goal list and there’s always more of God to explore. But having the goal “Get closer to God” is kind of vague. So this month my goal is to just spend more time with God whether that be praying, worshipping, exploring or studying the Bible. I believe that the more time spent with God, or anything for that matter, the more you begin to reflect it and I want to reflect more of God.

It’s so easy to compare your ‘behind the scenes’ life with everyone else’s lives that are portrayed on social media and I know I’m falling into this trap a lot more. I want to spend less time on social media and more time reading, being present and enjoying my life.

Work hard

To be honest I haven’t been giving my all in my school work and just life in general. I’ve kind of been lazing around. Even though I’m only at school for seven days this month I want to give it my all. Just everything I do I want to give my best in it.

Explore more

I know that I won’t be traveling to any other countries but I want to start doing a little more exploring in Johannesburg, where I live now. Finding new places to explore and new people to interact with and capturing all this on camera and sharing it with you guys.

Connect with other bloggers and blog readers

I love learning about other people and their stories because everyone has a  story to tell. Unfortunately I haven’t been doing a lot of that lately but I want to start. I want to start connecting with other bloggers and actually setting aside time for this. I’d also like to connect more with the people who read this blog.

So if you would like connect with me, share your story or even something amazing that happened today you can do that here. I really would love to connect with you!

What are your April goals?

This year one of my goals is to be more authentic and real. I think for a long time this blog hasn’t been as authentic as it should be and I know that I haven’t been putting as much effort into this blog as I should be. I’ve been trying to blog about what I’m not passionate about.

I believe when something becomes a chore, something to just tick of your to do list it’s not worth doing and that what blogging has become. You should do things with passion or not at all. I remember when I first started blogging how excited I was to blog and that’s what I want to go back to.

So this blog is going to head in a slightly different direction and I’m pretty excited. I want this blog to be more about Christ and my journey with Him, more encouraging and relatable. I want to feature more of people’s stories but above all I want to blog with honesty and kindness, straight from my heart.

These last couple of weeks have been quite busy for me and I haven’t really taken time to look back and appreciate all the good things that have happened so far. So I thought I would post my 7 happy things for the past week or two.

A fun night of line dancing

Last Friday my church had a barn dance and it was tons of . I got to serve the Lord, dress up and even did a bit (okay maybe a lot) of line dancing.

The people around me

Lately I’ve been learning about the importance of living in community and sharing your wins, loses, laughter and tears with the precious people God has put in our lives.

Just living

Last week I made a radical decision to just live. To be who I am and love fiercely, laugh as much as I can and not be concerned about what people think of me. This has made a huge difference in my days.

Tomorrow I’m going on a school camp over the long weekend. Even though it hasn’t happened yet I have been super excited and keen to see what it holds for me.

A good book

I just finished reading Life is a gold mine. Can you dig it ? by John Stanko and it has been one of the best nooks I’ve read so far. It’s so full of wisdom, knowledge and important life principles.

There isn’t much to say about this one… YouTube is just full of funny, entertaining, insightful, encouraging videos.

Every person who reads this blog

It amazes me how many people read this blog and all the different places they come from. You guys are one of the reasons I keep on blogging. So thank you!

What are your 7 happy things?

Lately God has been teaching me about grace. Grace is such a crazy and beautiful concept because it is God’s love and mercy for us not because we deserve it but because He wants to give it to us and there is absolutely nothing that we could do to make God love us any less or make Him not want to give us grace. It’s His free and unmerited favour.

“Ever since the fall it’s been human nature to sin. And no matter how hard I try, without God’s help I am inevitably going to sin and screw up. You see you cannot have grace without dirt because they’d be no need for grace. And I’ve been realizing that I have a whole ton of dirt. Lately I haven’t been spending enough time with God, using the wrong language, seeing people in an impure way and the result is I’m feeling overwhelmed and unworthy. I mean why would God love me, someone who screws up so often. The thing is God’s love for me is not changed by my actions.” -An excerpt from my journal.

The biggest reason I struggle with accepting grace, and I think a lot of people do is the belief that what I do will change how much God loves me and how much grace He gives me. But God’s love and grace are not dependant on my actions and there’s something beautiful about that. The fact that God still wants me, no matter how much I mess up He still wants to give me His love and grace.

You see without dirt you cannot have grace. Grace helps you realise your dirt but it also washes it all away. If I was perfect there would be no need for grace and we would not experience the beauty that comes with it.Here is a quote that summarises this perfectly:

“Grace is a love that has nothing to do with us but everything to do with the one whom it derived: God. It is a powerful, divine, and vital piece of our existence, and it is the only reason we are able to open our eyes each morning. God’s grace is more than a second chance; it’s a third, fourth and fifth. It’s a love that keeps on giving regardless of our past.”

Are you accepting the grace given as a result of the dirt?
